We are not the waves in the ocean. We are the ocean itself.
When we stop identifying with our egos, we can dip into who we really are – our Beings. We are not our thoughts or feelings or sensations.
Spiritual practices involve taming our egos and building inner resources. When we go through rough experiences — loneliness, anger, grief, sadness, jealousy — we can attempt to go through the doorway of untangling our feelings.
But often we get into the trap of ego identification and it is a laborious process. Or, some of us just say we will avoid such experiences in life that bring up those feelings. Although this is an attempt at coping, it is often also self defeating because it may be we are turning away from some of our deepest longing and desires, even our soul quest.
What if there is another way? We build inner resources and resilience. We can connect with even our sense of well being in the midst of immense challenges. We allow these resources to unwind our ego wounds, to even resolve for us what we may be missing – whether it is love, compassion, individuation with a sense of connectedness.
Here, we allow Being to untangle our egos and bring us to resolution of whatever pain we are in.
What resources/resilience practices do you have that help you to connect with your Being?
