I recently had a conversation with someone who is a seeker and went to Gurus such as Amma (Mata Amritanandmayi), Mother Meera, and others. I heard her disappointment with some of the ways that she engaged with them as someone who would magically take away her pain. She moved away from that path to teachers who empower her to connect with her own answers, albeit they may or may not be as evolved. And, she stopped going to Gurus.
Now, I know from experience that Amma really opens up the field for all kinds of seekers, from beginning to advanced. There are plenty of opportunities for the ego to also engage in the experience from delicious food to buying spiritual objects, etc. There are also a lot of projections and ideas about Amma for our egos to engage with.
Here is the thing (and I’m also afraid some will interpret this as blasphemy), Amma is an essential powerhouse filling the field with the absolute and nectars. At first when I went for darshan with Amma, I too found it incredibly magical and mysterious. I needed a space filled with nectars, as opposed to the dry spaces that I been to in many other meditation retreats at world famous retreat centers – but I didn’t know that consciously.
Here’s the thing – I love going to Amma. It is such a gift and blessing to be in Amma’s presence to receive empowerment, to be able to connect to all the essential qualities she generates. And, it is incredible to experience the field with Amma with embodied knowledge – this is the absolute and how it feels in my body. Or this nectar makes my body feel dense and warm as though I’m easily present in my body and to recognize this is related with certain issues/wounds that also arise in the field. And much more. This has been the gift of Diamond Logos teachings for me – the study of essential states/qualities, the psychological material related with it, and the is-ness in the body. It’s less mysterious and has deepened what I take from seeing Amma. It is actually more sacred because it’s more real. I can drop the projections and stories.
As a psychospiritual teacher and Diamond Logos teacher in training, as someone who has studied and practiced psychotherapy and spirituality for over 2 decades, I work with people who want this – the realness of the spiritual journey, the healers and therapists who work with helping clients and want a deeper knowing from their own exploration of what their clients are going through. Honestly, I still find time with Amma is magical and I don’t claim to know all the answers. Yet, I have a passion for growing, evolving, discovering.
I am open to forming groups if there is enough interest and work with people individually. Contact me if you’d like to work with me.
